Features & Settings
-
Easy setting, easy operation using programming
card.
-
Safe start-up system. The motor will not start no
matter which position the throttle stick is when the battery
is connected. Throttle stick must be brought to zero before ESC is armed.
-
Automatic power cut-off. If the motor suddenly
stops rotating or the radio signal is lost for more than 3 seconds,
the power will automatically be cut off.
-
BEC provides power to receiver and servos (for
ESC with BEC).
-
Over-heat protection. 110 °C
-
Over-voltage protection.
-
Battery Type (Li-xx, Ni-xx)
-
Start Mode (Normal, Soft, Very Soft) We recommend setting to Soft or Very Soft for EDF and models
with folding propellers.
-
Low-voltage cut-off: Low (2.85V), Middle (3.15V), High (3.3V) We recommend changing to 2.85V
for multi motored, EDF and other high powered models.
-
Timing (Low, Middle, High) We recommend changing to high for Outrunner motors
-
Break (On, Off) Set to On for models with Folding Propellers
-
Cut off (Soft, Hard)
The yellow wire can be used for 2 things
-
To program the ESC using the programming box.
-
If plugged into a spare switched channel on your receiver, it can be use to reverse the motor to give reverse thrust
making landings shorter. If you don't want this feature then don't plug it in.
VERY IMPORTANT
Please follow this one time setup procedure for your
4-Max 4M HESC series of ESC's
Before turning on your transmitter, make sure the settings within your transmitter are set to the following parameters for
the throttle channel.
-
On Futaba transmitters set the servo to "reverse", all other makes of transmitters it should be set to "normal"
-
Set Servo travel (ATV) +100% for full throttle and -100% for zero throttle,
No more, no less.
-
Internal subtrim and external trim are set to zero, middle or neutral
-
If a throttle cut switch is enabled make sure it is set to -100%. No more, no less.
Once the above has been checked and changed if necessary, please complete the following steps
-
Remove the propeller for safety
-
Turn on your transmitter
-
Move throttle stick to full throttle
-
Connect battery to ESC and wait approx. 2 seconds
-
IMMEDIATELY after hearing "Beep, Beep" pull the throttle stick to the zero throttle position.
-
You should then hear a series of "Beeps" that indicate the number of cells in the pack that is attached to
the ESC.
-
You will then hear a long "Beep" which indicates that the throttle stick is in the lowest position and that
the ESC is ready to be used.
-
Remove battery and re-install the propeller.
The above procedure teaches the ESC what is the maximum and the minimum throttle positions and five a better throttle response
over the throttle range. This procedure only needs to be completed once unless you change either the transmitter or receiver.
IF YOU WISH TO POWER YOUR RECEIVER AND SERVOS USING A 2S LiPo OR A 2S Li-ion BATTERY PLEASE CONTACT US FOR ADVISE ON HOW
TO DO THIS. |
